Il termine colesterolo, coniato alla fine dell’800, viene dal greco e significa sostanza solida per (che produce) la bile. Non pensate neanche per un momento che il colesterolo sia una sostanza dannosa: anzi, è indispensabile alla vita animale. Semmai sono le alterazioni anomale dei suoi livelli, della sua produzione e del suo smaltimento che possono creare fastidi; ma questo vale per qualsiasi sostanza nell’organismo. Che se ne parli tanto dipende solo dal fatto che nei Paesi industrializzati sono frequenti alcune patologie legate a questa sostanza.

I know, these tools often produce funny results… but I found this tool to output quite consistent translation… in English at least. The meaning of the sentences is almost always clear, despite some fuzzy logic.
